For my visit to Munich, the capital of Bavaria was on its best behavior with lots of sunshine and a bright blue sky. In a joyful mood I headed to “Super Danke”, a cute little smoothie bar and had one of those green power drinks which make you feel like you really, really care about your health. Feeling smug, I made my way to the Englischer Garten for a walk in the park. After about an hour I reached a beer garden called Seehaus, where unfortunately my good intentions were scrapped as I ordered the first round of bavarian beer and sausages…
In high spirits, I continued my walk, strolling to the Eisbach – a stream so fast-flowing that you can watch people surfing pretty much all year round, or as soon as the temperature is above freezing at least. Just around the corner, I went to the Haus der Kunst to see Mark Leckey’s current exhibition and have a drink in the stunning Goldene Bar, located a bit out of sight at the back of the building.
Later that evening, I met a friend for dinner at a newly opened restaurant called Burger and Lobster Bank. I couldn’t resist ordering the chef’s speciality – a giant burger with half a lobster on the side.
Last but not least, to end this almost perfect warm spring day, we went to the Flushing Meadows Hotel for a sundowner in the rooftop bar.
